Today I will:
- Explain how the the context of a novel makes a difference in understanding it by reviewing my notes from last class' jigsaw activity
- Define, illustrate, and act out 5 or more new words in the first chapters of TKAM
Agenda:
- Quickwrite: How does knowing more about the period in history in which a novel is set help you understand the characters and the choices they make? How does your own context (current events, your family, school, ethnic &/or religious background) shape who you are and the choices you make? Use specific examples from your notes and your own life.
- Word study (via Google Classroom) + quick skits
- Read Ch 3 aloud, discussing and taking notes (note check at end of class)
Homework:
- Finish reading Chapter 3. Be prepared to discuss socioeconomic class differences that we are beginning to see in the school, and what Atticus says at the top of page 30 ("You never really understand a person until...").
- Flipgrid reflection on ch 2 due today! Grid code: block2wright / password: 2021
